The Casbahs, from the Northeast, are a five-piece band who’ve been channelling classic indie rock energy since forming in 2019. Their new single is a bold step forward.

The Casbahs – Electric Daydreams

Their sound strikes that sweet spot between nostalgic and fresh—bringing the spirit of early 2000s alt-rock into a modern, emotional context.

They set the tone early with singles like “Wanderlust” and “So Happy,” followed by the release of their EP Sea or Sky. After some pandemic-related delays, their debut album Been Here Before finally landed in 2022. Since then, they’ve built a solid reputation for unforgettable live shows and earned support from BBC Introducing. Now, with new lead guitarist Steven Grainger on board, the band steps confidently into their most ambitious chapter yet marked by the release of their latest single, “Electric Daydreams.”

From the first few seconds, the track demands attention. A fun, distorted guitar riff kicks things off with raw, rebellious energy, setting the pace for everything that follows. The vocals come in with effortless cool—just a touch of reverb giving them a spacious, almost dreamlike feel. Underneath it all, the rhythm section hits with tight, punchy precision. The drums and bass don’t just support the track—they drive it.

Then comes the chorus: euphoric, catchy, and built to be shouted back by a crowd. It’s one of those choruses that instantly lodges itself in your brain. You’ll be humming it for hours. With its upbeat charm and undeniable hook, it feels tailor-made for live sets and late-night festival stages.

“At its core, authentic indie rock is a conversation—intimate, flawed, and utterly genuine.”

The track doesn’t let up. Midway through, we’re hit with an electrifying guitar solo—bursting through the mix like a shot of adrenaline. It’s powerful, infectious, and packed with raw emotion. And instead of fading away, the solo carries the song into a climactic, unforgettable outro that leaves you wanting more.

“Electric Daydreams” is a bold step forward for The Casbahs—polished but still gritty, confident without losing its soul. If this is a preview of what’s to come, their next chapter might just be their biggest yet.

With their five-track EP ‘Two Bucks and a Bottle of Ketchup’, The Ovines channel the chaos, humour, and grit of modern life into a high-octane alt-rock experience.

The Ovines – ‘Two Bucks and a Bottle of Ketchup’

Rooted in Kent and based in London, The Ovines have carved out a reputation for their explosive live shows and tight-knit chemistry, qualities that have earned them supporting slots for The Libertines, Buzzcocks, The Sherlocks, King Prawn, and Spear of Destiny. Their latest EP, Two Bucks and a Bottle of Ketchup,  captures that same spirit, pairing punchy songwriting with unfiltered energy.

The opening track Ten Street Mile wastes no time. It’s a blistering, full-speed rocker driven by frantic drums and untamed riffs. It’s loud, messy, and completely addictive, an ideal introduction to The Ovines’ unpredictable charm.

Loose Change shifts gears with a more introspective mood. Melancholic guitar lines and a steady, hypnotic bassline set the tone, while the band’s signature raw lyricism remains front and center. It’s a standout moment of depth, wrapped in atmospheric production and proof that The Ovines can do more than just hit hard, they can make it count.

The EP’s title track, Two Bucks, returns to full-throttle mode. Vocalist Matt Adams delivers rapid-fire verses with a near-rap cadence, matched by a wild guitar solo that explodes in under two and a half minutes, along with a chorus that will stay rent-free inside your head. It’s striking, loose, and yet surprisingly catchy.

Mind of Mine introduces skank guitar passages that lift the track into something emotionally resonant, yet never too polished to lose its edge. It’s another strong entry that broadens the EP’s range while holding onto its core identity.

Closing with Loser Mate, The Ovines end on a note as unruly as the beginning. With its no-holds-barred instrumentation and biting lyrics, it’s a fitting finale that encapsulates everything the band is about.

“Two Bucks and a Bottle of Ketchup is loud, irreverent, and unapologetically fun, an EP that captures the essence of The Ovines in just five tracks. For fans of alt-rock with grit and wit, this release is well worth the ride.”

Catch The Ovines live:

  • July 31st – Signature Brew Haggerston (EP launch party w/ Nick Diver & Angered Kenneth)
  • October 4th – Viper Theatre, Florence, Italy (Opening for Buzzcocks)

Washer Dryer’s debut EP, Washer, is an engaging introduction to the indie rock duo of Alex and Karen.

Washer Dryer – Washer

Written and recorded while they were living in New York, the EP reflects the push-and-pull of city life—staying, leaving, finding hope, and losing it again. Across five tracks, the duo leans on enveloping melodies, well-placed harmonies, and a stripped-down approach that pretty much defines their style.

The opener, “Not Like Yesterday,” gets things moving with a fuzzy guitar tone, a driving drum beat, a confident vocal lead from Karen, and a chorus hook that is immediately catchy and emotionally charged.

“Washer” is an intimate debut with strong melodies, rich harmonies, and a raw, DIY spirit. It’s also proof that good music doesn’t need much to leave a lasting impression.

The mellower “City Is An Animal” slows things down. Built around gentle acoustic progressions and layered harmonies, it has Karen and Alex sharing vocals and perfectly complementing each other’s unique timbres. The arrangement is simple but effective, letting the melodies give the song its emotional pull.

“Baby Baby Baby keeps things slow with a bluesy sway, led by a steady, pulsating bass line. Alex takes the verses with a calm, focused delivery before Karen steps in to harmonize. The restraint in the arrangement works in the song’s favor, letting the duo’s vocal chemistry shine.

“Undertow” picks up the pace again with an upbeat rhythm and a strong vocal performance from Karen, backed by Alex’s harmonies. The effect-laden guitars build nicely toward the choruses, adding momentum and punch to them.

Closing track “Oblivion” leans more into indie pop, with restrained instrumentals and a bigger focus on atmosphere. It’s less about big hooks and more about setting a mood, rounding out the EP with a softer, more intimate touch.

Washer carries a sense of intimacy that feels personal without being insular. The production strikes a balance—clean enough to let the vocals and melodies shine, yet raw enough to preserve the duo’s DIY aesthetic. This hands-on approach extends beyond the music, as seen in the EP’s cover and video, which feature a clay recreation of the duo’s NYC bedroom inside a fish tank—a process that reflects the same care poured into the songs themselves.

I see Washer as an intimate and deliberate effort, unpretentious in its delivery, but that’s exactly why it works. It’s a collection of songs that showcases great elements without overdoing anything, which allows Washer Dryer to step into the indie scene with a clear sense of identity. The duo has a knack for memorable melodies and strong vocal work, making this a solid start with plenty of potential.

Roger Bacon commands your attention with sizzling single ‘Shank,’ a track that packs a punch with its raw energy and gritty sound.

Roger Bacon – Shank

Hailing from Glasgow, Roger Bacon burst onto the scene in late 2024, winning a local battle of the bands. Despite it being their first ever performance, they have since begun to build up somewhat of a cult following from this and their subsequent, explosively energetic live gigs.

The four-piece band hopes to carve out their own distinctive sound within the alternative genre, and ‘Shank’ is proof they can bring home the bacon.

Recorded and self-produced in what they describe as a ‘crowded outhouse’ on the Isle of Cumbrae (just off the West Coast of Scotland), the DIY quality seeps through the track with the distorted sound and harsh instrumentation, granting a unique rawness and authenticity. Driven by its heavy guitars, ‘Shank’ plays like you are sitting in the room with them, in true garage-rock fashion.

“With a strong, punchy debut like ‘Shank’, Roger Bacon make room for themselves within the busy indie-rock scene.”

Already beginning to make waves locally, playing iconic Glaswegian venues like Nice ‘N’ Sleazys, Roger Bacon’s momentum has only just started, and if ‘Shank’ is any indication, there are more exciting things to come.

Wild Isles are the latest alternative rock group to make waves through the indie scene with the release of their debut single, ‘Gold’.

Wild Isles – Gold

Hailing from England’s South West, this five-piece is bringing together everything that makes guitar music great – with influences including none other than Oasis, Sleep Token, and Nothing But Thieves – and giving it a fresh, thrilling twist.

Starting with roaring riffs and powerful backbeats, Wild Isles certainly waste no time in bringing the energy with their debut single, ‘Gold’. The bold screams of the guitar wail over the air, truly setting the tone for the wall of sound that’s about to unfold. Indeed, people often claim that guitar music may have had its day, but I always struggle to see truth in that baseless claim as long as groups as great as this are putting out material as strong as ‘Gold’.

It truly seems that every minute aspect of this record has been paid the closest of attention. One of my favourite aspects of the single is how each instrument complements the next: the way the rhythm section locks in to deliver a strapping groove, the way the guitars keep building tension, and the way the vocals are sensationally delivered with finesse and confidence. Before long, the track builds through a masterful array of expertly crafted licks and fills before it arrives at its crown jewel of a chorus. It should be noted that the production value on this single is phenomenal and really builds on the musical talent that’s ubiquitous within Wild Isles.

Lyrically, ‘Gold’ seems to pay homage to the importance of strength and companionship and how precious relationships can be in our lives. This, coupled with its electrifying instrumentation, goes hand in hand and helps produce a track that feels just as energising as it does exciting. Let’s not forget, crafting a strong narrative in a song is a skill in its own right, but having the talent to do just that and transpose lyrics into a song with clever, catchy hooks and anthemic choruses provides a flair that Wild Isles should be marvelled for.

‘Gold’ is a sensational, anthemic offering of a debut single – Wild Isles are certainly a group to keep a close eye on.

PennyTrip, a four-piece band from Birmingham, Alabama, explores themes of regret and introspection in their latest alt-rock track ‘Pins & Needles.’

PennyTrip – Pins & Needles

Amid the pandemic, Josh Chamblee started crafting and recording demos of songs that had been forming in his head for months. He later approached his longtime friend Brad White, a recording engineer and guitarist for Divine Shakes, to collaborate on refining these tracks, planting the seeds for PennyTrip and a fresh musical direction for both musicians.

Robbie Drake on drums and Steven Nash on bass completed the lineup of PennyTrip, solidifying the band’s blend of alternative rock and shoegaze. Their style draws heavy influence from iconic bands like Nirvana, Bush, Superheaven, Jimmy Eat World, Silverchair, and The Smashing Pumpkins.

Thematically, PennyTrip explores themes of individuality and self-discovery in mid-life, reflecting on both past experiences and future possibilities through their introspective melodies. This is evident in their latest release, “Pins & Needles,” which delves into the regret of not fully committing to a relationship, questioning missed opportunities, and grappling with the consequences of not following one’s instincts or taking risks.

Like a 90s time capsule, the influence from the aforementioned bands is palpable in this track, where hazy distorted guitars clash with euphoric drums, perfectly balanced by a shoegazy gentle vocal delivery that successfully transmits the heart-aching lyrics.

“Pins & Needles by PennyTrip is a remarkable alt-rock gem, infused with nostalgia.”

Overall, this composition strikes a chord with listeners, thanks to its relatable subject and familiar sonic landscape. It’s a highly recommended tune for those craving alt-rock with subtle shoegaze elements, expertly executed for an authentic musical experience.

Introducing JEEBO, a highly talented four-piece band that has garnered impressive achievements in the short period they have been releasing music.

JEEBO – Giants

JEEBO have sold out shows in London and Eastern England with only three singles. Their tracks have also received substantial airplay on prominent stations such as BBC Radio 1 and now, JEEBO are building on that momentum, continuing to captivate audiences with the release of their latest single, ‘Giants’, which is both strange and captivating, drawing listeners into the band’s imaginative and vibrant musical universe.

Starting with a powerful guitar riff that captivates listeners and pulls them along, lead singer George’s haunting vocals commence, narrating a chilling story of the consequences that unfold when extraterrestrials and ‘giant ants’ seize control of the planet and assimilate humans as their vessels.

‘Giants’ provides an unforgettable auditory experience recounting a distinctive, spine-chilling story.

As the ants and humans learn to live alongside each other, the ants gradually gain insight into the challenges and struggles that define human existence. Throughout the track, there is a distinct criticism of the government, holding them accountable for the dire human conditions. Despite the severity of the critique, however, the track cleverly infuses biting sarcasm to convey its message in a thought-provoking and impactful manner.

The anthemic chorus of ‘Giants’ sets it apart from JEEBO’s earlier releases, indicating a newfound maturity in the band’s music after 12 months of consistent releases. The chorus is polished and powerful, exuding an infectious energy that is sure to linger in listeners’ minds long after the song ends.

‘Giants’ is unleashed just before JEEBO hit the stage at the iconic Isle of Wight festival, enthusiastic fans can anticipate a live rendition of the track, alongside the band’s existing releases. Boasting vibrant percussive elements, lively drum patterns, and powerful bass, the single is a standout track in the four-piece’s discography that will dazzle during live performances.

UK indie-rock rising talent Isaac Neilson has made a powerful return with his thought-provoking new single, The Fight Within Us.

Isaac Neilson – The Fight Within Us

Hailing from Buxton, Isaac Neilson is an emerging talent in the music scene who, despite his newcomer status, has already made significant strides. He has shared the stage with renowned acts such as Jake Bugg, Stereophonics, and The Human League. Neilson has also garnered positive feedback from BBC Introducing, RGM, and Right Chord Music, and sold out his first headline tour across the northwest. His dedication and work ethic have made him a standout in the independent music circuit.

Throughout his career, Neilson has been recognized for his profound songwriting. However, The Fight Within Us is arguably one of his most well-crafted pieces to date. This track delves deep into the human experience in the digital era, concluding that despite changing times, human nature remains constant.

The Fight Within Us addresses the growing self-indulgence and obsession with perception that accompany the expansion of the digital hive mind. Isaac’s lyrics succesfully capture the superficial ‘highlight reel lifestyle,’ hookup culture, alcoholism, and the shared escapist fantasies that perpetuate the illusion of instant gratification, accurately depicting the many negative aspects of our era.

Set to the rhythm of clapping beats, an unforgettable guitar hook, and Neilson’s dynamic and incisive vocals, The Fight Within Us is both boldly sincere and infectiously catchy. It’s a track that begs to be played at summer festivals, promising to be a crowd-pleaser.

The Fight Within Us is a playful and clever rock anthem, blending compelling storytelling with a wildly entertaining performance.

With new music and plenty of surprises on the horizon, Isaac Neilson is ready to impress listeners with a series of upcoming live dates. Be sure to show your support and catch him live if you can:
