ALICE. released their debut track on Halloween, calling out the social media ghosters.

There are always strange happenings at Halloween. Reports of manifestations and apparitions, spooks and ghouls and freaks and fools, but unfortunately, in the world of singer, bassist and general purveyor of good times, Alice Offley, no convivial jesters, or McWitches.

For her latest single, “Stop Liking My Instagram”, the singer takes aim at the jokers that haunt her socials. These are the strange breed that display all the traits of true fandom: liking, following, messaging, engaging, only to suddenly ‘pop off’ to lurk on the peripheries, keeping tabs and cyber-stalking. “DOA just disappeared, from every day to never here, but you still watch my stories!” But she is not alone….

The track, originally written and produced in the summer and featuring on her debut album “Are You Dealing With A Snake?” due for a digital release next year, has been remixed and released by Alice, guitarist Marc Sephton and drummer John Mitson, who together form the rock and roll trio Alice. The newly formed band stand for “self-worth, defiance, and unfiltered truth – the voice for anyone who refuses to be crushed”. So no messing around then!

“This single is for all of the internet ghosters and ghouls who like to play disappearing acts after messaging for weeks, but then still stalk yer socials. Boooooo!”

Offley’s musical style has always consisted of catchy pop funk-driven tunes and Alice. continues in this vein with an added edginess. The George Michael influence on her previous release ‘Don’t You Mess With Me’, which also called out other types of blood sucker, is maintained on “SLMI”.

Think 90’s era ‘Too Funky’ with a rock element that Sephton brings with his wiry guitar, complementing Offley’s liquid bass and alluring vocals. “Now I know you might be shy, but don’t mean you have to be in-genuine”. With a playful video featuring the singer as a bespectacled school mistress teaching the “ghosters” how to behave and a cuddly toy snake for company, the familiar Alice Offley fun filter has been readily applied, but Alice. still deliver a silver bullet.

‘Longed for Life’ is the work of Paul Ryan and Olivia Thomson, a duo with the combined mission of making meaningful music.

Paul Ryan and Olivia Thomson – Longed for Life

‘Longed for Life’ is the second single from the upcoming album ‘Enemy of an Enemy’. The project began in Pidgeon Studios on January 30th 2025, and has since blossomed, with two singles gracing the public and more to come.

The blend of the two artists is intentional and aims to unify their differing tones into one unified wall of experienced vocal talent. Both share the co-vocal responsibilities, with Olivia also providing backing vocals.

The pair thrash between typical elements of psychedelic rock and more traditional folk and indie pop, all the while intertwining different sounds, their own vocals and their direction. This creates a hypnotic track that whisks the listener away.  Whilst in this comatose state, purposeful lyrics bring into question the essence of life. The subtle switch in lyrics of the end chorus, from one being certain they still long for life to pure uncertainty on the topic, is poetic.

Paul and Olivia make it very clear that is album is intended to be digested as a whole artistic project that goes beyond audio delights and dives into the physical world of imagery and visual manipulation. The album artwork and photoshoots offer further insight into the world of the artists and their mission.

Furthermore, the track is accompanied by a music video. As with everything they do, the music video is made to match the atmosphere created by the sound and force the consumer further into their world.

The full album is expected towards the end of 2025, and it’s hotly anticipated by me and others.

‘Paul Ryan and Olivia Thomson have created a track for lovers of artistic representation and freedom. A necessary piece of art’

Irish Indie/ Post Punk band Petrel soar on their searing debut single, Existing Condition.

Petrel – Existing Condition

Long-time readers of Right Chord Music will remember our love of the band Slyrydes. Petrel is the new side project of guitarist Eoin Reilly, and it’s immediately exciting.

Recorded in Dublin in the early half of 2025 and produced by Darragh Winters. Existing Condition is built around jagged guitar textures, busy basslines, pounding drums, and stark, poetic lyricism.

This is a wonderful introduction to Petrel and perfectly captures the band’s raw dynamic energy and obsession with light versus dark.

“Petrel have launched with something truly exciting, it’s a shot in the arm for incipid, middle-of-the-road music. This Dublin 4-piece has just raised the bar!

Introducing Petrel

Petrel offer a softer sound to Slyrydes and manages to expertly balance noise and melody. Fans of early post-punk and alternative indie will quickly find something to love here.

Petrel are a four-piece that formed this year, but each member brings years of firepower from deep within the Irish underground. Imagine four frontmen in one room.

Their name is drawn from the storm bird said to glide just above crashing waves. It’s a wonderful metaphor for their sound: Restless, intense and always moving forward. Petrel are instinctive, elemental, earnest, born out of both noise and necessity.

“Our main goal with this project was to truly be us, we went through a few lineup changes and different sounds until it felt right and real, it was never worth doing if it wasn’t going to sound real”

“We felt there are a lot of bands out right now that have a very similar voice. We didn’t want to blend in”

Meet the band

Vocals/guitar: Gerry Sheil, formerly of Scattered Ashes. Guitarist: Eoin Reilly fSlyrydes. Drummer Mosey: In Athens formerly of New Pope, and Rural Savage Bass: Ian McFarlane, Squarehead, Mick Pyro, Cruel Sister, and previously Kid Karate.

Clara Kay Confronts Emotional Fallout in Debut Single ‘On Purpose’.

Clara Kay – On Purpose

With On Purpose, singer-songwriter Clara Kay debuts with an intimate and emotionally layered song. It’s a track shaped by complex feelings and a deep desire for resolution.

Originally from Dallas, Texas and now based in Boston, Claire Hudson (who performs as Clara Kay) brings years of musical experience to her work. After fronting rock bands and quietly writing folk songs in the privacy of her bedroom, she’s developed a distinctive sound that bridges both worlds. Her music blends emotional honesty with sharp, thoughtful songwriting that feels both grounded and refined.

Clara Kay’s debut single arrives with the full weight of her storytelling ability, confronting a haunting question: how do you grieve someone who hurt you while still carrying the burden of self-blame? On Purpose explores this emotional terrain by tracing the aftermath of a toxic relationship. The song unfolds in vivid stages, beginning with isolation and silence, shifting into raw, unfiltered anger, and eventually reaching a fragile sense of hope that perhaps the fault doesn’t lie entirely within. It’s both a plea for closure and a declaration of self-worth.

Carried by Clara Kay’s soft, expressive vocals, On Purpose weaves delicate acoustic guitar with dramatic, modern production. The track gradually builds into an emotionally rich soundscape, capturing the weight and tension of its subject with striking clarity and depth.

“On Purpose is a compelling blend of lyrical depth and polished production, delivering a euphoric listening experience that’s both emotionally charged and sonically rich.”

In terms of production, On Purpose was mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Ariel Borujow and mastered by Ian Stewart, adding a professional edge to its emotional depth. The track is accompanied by a visually striking music video, co-directed by Clara Kay and Asher Thomas. Set against the backdrop of a surreal Western showdown, the video reflects the song’s core tension, with shifting roles of villain and victim that echo the internal conflict explored in the lyrics.

Elisabeth Pixley-Fink’s ‘Heartskin’ allows for the listener to be cradled, pushed and taught what it is to be alive and let oneself experience those magical things that encapsulate existence – love, loss and self-exploration. A beautiful album that displays her thoughts as our own and never fails to surprise on each and every listen.

Elisabeth Pixley-Fink – Heartskin

The opening guitar riff immediately sends you into an unsettled but loving journey and sets the tone nicely for an album of the same feeling throughout. ‘Those Were the Days’ sets the album’s tone quickly as a reminiscing of time gone with a melodic calm candescence whilst throwing out a handful of punk-fuelled lyrics and more than enough angst.

This flows perfectly into ‘Habits’ that tackles similar issues of living in the past and letting it influence the present presence of mind.

How to Stop Loving You’ continues the list and turmoil spent on this mysterious love of the past and allows the listener to latch onto many different thought-provoking sentiments that they can place in their own life – ‘How to stop loving you’ takes my spot as the track to think about on the album!

Didn’t I try’ takes the experience forward into the realm of acceptance and trying to confirm with oneself that what they did was right, this song builds to a point around 2 minutes 25 seconds in where the listener will be lost in the essence of the artist and the message.

Hidden Camera’ leaves the listener in love limbo and allows for a standstill in the timeline created thus far. Almost bringing a feeling to its conclusion at the halfway whilst opening many more avenues of thought.

The Coffee is Cold’ breaks the silence by throwing the past into the future and the future into the past and keeps the listener in a chokehold of realisation. At this point in the album, different directions have been taken by each listener and thus a true piece of art has been crafted.

Nothing better suits this mould than ‘Fearless and The Pure’ as it shatters the atmospheric bubble manufactured by the start of the album and breaks out into punk purity. The thrashing guitar and strut-worthy lyrics thrust the listener into a euphoric trance. ‘Fearless and The Pure’ takes this album’s award for track to come back to.

Simply stunning album craftsmanship. ‘Heartskin’ lassoes us back down to earth and forces us back into the true essence of thought and who we are.

‘Alone’ continues this calm folk feel and it now seems a lifetime ago since ‘Fearless and The Pure’ broke our world and we are sat in the middle of our own universe and forced us to consider all that we are and all that we can be.

Precious’ lifts us back up with the best guitar riffs present on the album, a lovely mix of meaningful lyrics and easy flow allows the listener to float again through the turmoil of life present thus far. A quick blast into safety whilst maintaining the essence of imagery and the necessity of self-realisation.

Your Song’ Everything so far is encapsulated in this song; some beautiful folk guitar and synth sounds that paint a beautiful lullaby to get us ready to finish our journey – this song taking the album’s track for pleasure award.

‘This is Love’ takes the whole album and puts it on show. The feelings of love, life and loss are thrust into view. Thirty-seven minutes away from the world and reality strikes – this album is a necessary journey for anyone.

The name Heartskin perfectly embodies everything this album signifies. It takes the human connection to the heart and the emotion it holds and breaks the skin casing it’s in for all to see.

It is truly an album to revisit time and time as each song ignites a different side of life and the build-up will take you on a different, significant emotional ride each time. Let this album take you home and put you face to face with all you think and feel.

A soft, escalating start to the album cascades over the first 6 songs, when ‘Fearless and The Pure’ shatters this and the rest of the album is a dart between the safe comfort of thought and the reality of being alive.

Through folk melodies, punk angst and modern flow, ‘Heartskin’ prevails as a worthy addition to the music landscape and takes its place in the universe as it knowingly would. Elizabeth Pixley-fink invited us to think, feel and wonder what it is we are doing and provides an album worthy of praise, ponder and many more listens.

‘Take yourself away from the every day and be forced into a mesmerising journey through yourself and out the other side with a few punk battle scars and folk tales to tell’

West Coast rockers Crymwav return with Sense of Adventure, a track that captures their raw punk energy with a dark, gothic edge.

Formed in 2022 from the remnants of Los Angeles band Smash Fashion, Crymwav brings together Roger Deering, Lloyd Stuart Casson, Greg Rogers, and Bruce Braddock. The band members, all from a similar musical background, were shaped by the American hardcore scene of the ’80s, as well as influences from punk, post-punk, goth, and NWOBHM, citing acts like Thin Lizzy, UFO, and The Ruts as key inspirations.

For frontman Roger Deering, the idea for Crymwav took shape during a stay in London:

Crymwav started to come together for me while I was staying in London around 3 years ago. I went to London to visit my girlfriend who was staying in Ladbroke Grove, a songwriting spree came to me..I wanted to channel the bands from that area.. Hawkwind, Clash, Killing Joke, Motörhead, and I came back to LA with a fistful of songs.’

Building on the momentum of their 2023 EP 24/7—praised by Classic Rock and Guitar World Magazine—and their 2024 single Contagious, Crymwav now unleash Sense of Adventure. The track fuses their high-energy punk sound with the goth-infused aesthetics of bands like The Damned. Add a dose of swagger, and the result is a rock anthem with a serious attitude.

Musically, Sense of Adventure grabs hold with an irresistible hook, blending danceable grooves and a rhythm section that keeps the energy high. The chorus “Where’s your sense of adventure? You’re just not fun anymore.” delivers a punchy, memorable moment. At the same time, the guitar solo adds a thrilling edge, guaranteed to send shivers down your spine.

“Sense of Adventure is a relentless rock banger that pairs sharp musicianship with a striking aesthetic and an undeniable attitude.”

To complement the song, a visually striking music video directed by Joe Cardamone captures the band’s dynamic presence.

London fans can catch Crymwav live at the iconic Cart & Horses on March 28, sharing the stage with Syteria—featuring Girlschool’s Jackie Chambers—and Star Circus. Expect a night packed with high-energy rock and electrifying performances.

To promote their new EP, the eclectic duo The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara has unveiled a new music video for the emotionally powerful track, Per Astra.

The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara – Per Astra

Known for their genre-defying sound, Andrea Papi and Daphne Ang, the creative force behind The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara, have had an impressive year. In 2024, they released a series of standout tracks, spanning from the heavy intensity of death metal to the soft serenity of acoustic ballads, demonstrating their remarkable versatility.

Following five incredible singles—Mysterium Tremendum, Feed The Beast, Bite The Bullet, It Goes, and Waves—the duo has finally released their highly anticipated EP Origins. This six-track release reflects not only the culmination of a year of tireless creativity but also provides a deeply personal glimpse into the duo’s emotional world. In their own words, Origins is dedicated to “the people who are still here, and for those who are now gone.”

To promote their Origins, TCOMAS has released a music video for the one track that hadn’t previously been shared as a single. “Per Astra” holds a special significance. Written by Daphne Ang, this poignant song captures the sorrow of longing for someone who is no longer present.

I lost someone very dear to me recently, I sought solace in my piano and wrote “Per Astra” in my darkest moments of grief.” – said Daphne about her inspiration for this song.

Unlike some of the other tracks on the album, which seamlessly blend melodic and heavier elements, Per Astra remains focused on delivering a deeply emotional experience. The song opens with otherwordly electronic arrangements before transitioning into a melancholic piano melody, enhanced by Daphne’s soothing vocals and tender spoken verses. The music video features stunning animation that perfectly complements the song’s sombre tone, further enhancing its emotional depth.

Per Astra is a deeply introspective exploration of grief and heartache, expertly crafted and sincerely performed.

With the release of the video for Per Astra, The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara have marked 2024 as one of their most successful years yet. These works are both a professional and personal milestone for the duo, encapsulating the power of raw emotion and human experience in their purest form. If you haven’t discovered TCOMAS yet, now is the perfect time to dive into their top-notch music before the year ends.

Garage rock quartet wht.rbbt.obj share Unlucky 13 and it’s all about the riff.

wht.rbbt.obj – Unlucky 13

What began as a secret side project between married couple Frank and River Rabbitte has blossomed into the Chicago garage rock powerhouse known as wht.rbbt.obj. Renowned for their cryptic themes and bluesy, soul-infused rock, they have earned acclaim for their seamless genre-blending.

Wht.rbbt.obj has graced several festivals, including notable performances at SXSW and Milwaukee’s Summerfest. They’ve also shared the stage with prominent bands such as Moon Walker, Eve6, and Mom Rock. Their regional tours have taken them across the United States, hitting cities like Minneapolis, Grand Rapids, Detroit, Louisville, Nashville, Davenport, Memphis, Richmond, Dallas, Waco, and Austin. It’s clear they have no shortage of experience.

Their new single Unlucky 13 holds special significance for several reasons. It marks the band’s first-ever collaboration, originating back in 2019 and representing a pivotal moment in their journey together. Previously, Frank and River adhered to a “no comment” rule regarding each other’s music. However, that changed when River pushed to enhance a bass riff Frank was developing. This curious moment gave birth to Unlucky 13, which was quickly demoed and aired on Chicago’s WKQX Q101 within weeks.

And talking about that riff, this one is so catchy that it will linger in your mind for days. Paired with understated drums and River’s raw, compelling raspy vocals, Unlucky 13 offers an enjoyable auditory experience that ironically leaves you feeling anything but unlucky. Along with the single, they have also launched an exciting music video to promote it.

Unlucky 13 is a pure garage rock banger, as alluring as it is engaging.

Although they have achieved a great deal already, Unlucky 13 shows that wht.rbbt.obj is just getting started. It highlights the band’s promise and suggests they have much more in store. Get ready, because this is a name you’ll be hearing more of very soon.

Let’s be honest. We live in an increasingly disposable world, with throw-away pop dominating the charts and daytime radio playlists. FREE, the new single by Anna Wolf is a powerful reminder that the best music is art, grounded in substance and born from human emotion.

Introducing Anna Wolf

Born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa Anna began her musical journey early, signing her first record deal at just 14. Growing up in a tumultuous household, songwriting provided solace, refuge and escape and served as a tool for healing from the domestic abuse she not only witnessed but experienced.

Anna Wolf – FREE

Her new single ‘FREE’ is about breaking the cycle of abuse and is part of an important personal journey. It’s about being stuck in relationships that don’t serve you, staying because it feels familiar and ’romantically abusive.’

“I spent years in those kinds of relationships. No one could have talked me out of them. I had to learn to let go for myself. The moment I did, I experienced a deep sense of liberation and self-love. It was incredibly freeing to accept myself fully, flaws and all.” [Anna Wolf]

The track’s minimally stark arrangement places the focus squarely on Wolf’s intimate lyrical delivery and story-telling which immediately hooks you in with its arresting opening lines…

“I think you hate me a lot. I should have held on to all the love we had, but I forgot.” [Anna Wolf]

The tension in this track with leave you breathless with Wolf skillfully continuing to turn the screw until something has to give. After two minutes the tension is released. Like a deep exhale you find oxygen flooding your body with an intense rush. This is music you not only hear but feel and imbue.

If the song is powerful, the accompanying music video, directed by Anna takes the intensity to another level. It perfectly brings the themes of FREE to life in vivid and often stark technicolour. Filmed in her bedroom alongside Director of Photography, Paul Fuller, the video features a striking red backdrop, symbolizing passion, energy, and fire, reflecting the intensity of relationships built on passion rather than true love.

The video cleverly flits between close-ups of Anna’s direct vocal delivery and snippets of cartoons that playfully depict the chase, entrapment, and unravelling of a toxic love affair. When the song reaches its crescendo we see Anna playing an electric guitar oozing black blood, it’s a powerful and arresting metaphor for the parts of yourself lost in these types of relationships.

Anna’s raw and intimate storytelling, both sonically and visually, ensures FREE is bound to leave an indelible mark on its audience, share this with anyone who has struggled with toxic relationships and personal growth. This is the soundtrack to healing and new beginnings.

Sector 5 – Ghosts

Sector 5 is a Berlin-based pop-rock band comprised of Mika (lead vocals/guitar), Sami (drums), Jules (bass), and Onno (lead guitar). The group began with three brothers inspired by iconic acts like Nirvana and the Foo Fighters, leading them to start writing songs at ages 9 and 6. Over time, they honed their skills into the accomplished performers they are today, expanding to a quartet after their studies at the British Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM).

Sector 5 on Spotify

Despite their youth, Sector 5 has an impressive track record. They’ve played significant venues in Germany, including Täubchenthal, Gretchen, Festsaal Kreuzberg, Kantine, and Lido. Their festival appearances include the Blankit Festival and Rocktreff, alongside international showcases at events like Canadian Music Week in Toronto and the Africa Rising Music Conference in Johannesburg.

Their accolades are equally impressive. Sector 5 has won the German Pop & Rock Prize and the Best Rock Song Award at the Siegerlandhalle in Siegen. They also triumphed in the “Welcome to Europe” Song Contest at Europapark. Their 2023 single, Move To London, has become a standout track, with over 80,000 streams, widespread radio play, and television features. With the release of Ghosts, the band aims to add yet another milestone to their growing list of achievements.

Ghosts combines introspective lyrics with melancholy-infused instrumentation, creating a deeply emotional experience. The song climaxes in the powerful chorus, featuring driving drums and vibrant guitars, culminating in a stunning guitar solo. The accompanying music video enhances this poignant songwriting, depicting each band member reflecting on a loved one and how they gradually moved on after their loss.

“Ghosts serves as a poignant exploration of memories, sorrow, and heartbreak.”

With their undeniable passion and musical talent, Sector 5 exemplifies the hidden treasures of the independent music scene. If you’re seeking a solid collection of pop-rock tracks from a promising new band, this young group has everything you need.
