‘Ascend With Me’ by Fools & Sages is an intense, moving ballad that traverses multiple shades of rock.

Fools & Sages – Ascend With Me

Coming out of Derbyshire, Fools & Sages share ‘Ascend With Me’. Released in waterfall style, this, their fourth single, now provides the duo with a debut EP of the same name. This is a call to action and an ascent into the world above through the healing power of rock.

It takes absolutely no time for the power of Fools & Sages to take hold on ‘Ascend With Me’. Ethereal vocals transcend into a cloud of rock. The instrumental twists through a corkscrew throughout the track and lays the backdrop for a rollercoaster rock ballad.

Goosebump-inducing riffs and vocal runs of varying intentions but consistent magnitude mesh into a masterclass of sound production. The audio journey created is a great ode to the music of the past, whilst owning its own sound and modernising its feel.

Fools & Sages present themselves and their art holistically, being very image savvy and encapsulating meaningful physical art alongside their majestic sound.

Catch them live, for an unforgettable show, on the following dates:

Through its blend of camp pop maximalism and lo-fi intimacy, Vogues unveils And Then Nothing, an intriguing new release that challenges expectations with its unconventional yet deeply satisfying composition.

Vogues – ‘And Then Nothing’

Vogues is the solo project of Cornish-born, London-based musician and producer Davy Roderick. Through this project, Davy delves into themes of identity, memory, and emotional intensity, shaped by a blend of camp pop maximalism and lo-fi intimacy. The sound of Vogues carries home-spun textures and lush arrangements, often compared to queer icons like Arthur Russell and Anohni, while exploring a deeply personal landscape of desire, transformation, and self-reinvention.

Continuing to embrace eccentricity and channel unpredictability through art, Vogues unveils And Then Nothing. This striking composition explores the tension between longing and restraint, moving gracefully through the blurred emotional space where intimacy and confusion intertwine.

Driven by hypnotic guitar work and dreamy production, And Then Nothing unfolds like the soundscape of a fever dream. Davy’s vocals stand out, elevated by ethereal backing harmonies that add a haunting edge. Yet, just as the song settles into its rhythm, Vogues shifts direction, lifting the tempo and transforming it into an unexpectedly infectious piece.

“And Then Nothing stands as a prime example of eclectic indie artistry, intriguing, meticulously crafted, and effortlessly addictive. With this track, Vogues delivers a striking piece that invites repeated listens and continued admiration.”

Created over several years in bedrooms, backseats, and borrowed studios across Cornwall, London, and France, Vogues’ music emerges from a tapestry of past selves, layered textures, and evolving perspectives. Reflecting Davy Roderick’s journey through gender, grief, and artistic transformation, the project offers more than captivating sound; it presents ideas and emotions that linger long after the music ends, making Vogues an endlessly compelling and thought-provoking endeavour.

Singer-songwriter Alina is back with another heartfelt pop anthem, Loverboy Leave, proving once again her ability to turn real-life moments into songs that connect instantly.

Alina – Loverboy Leave

Based in Brighton, Alina is carving out a name for herself in the indie pop space, supported by her strong background in music college and a growing catalogue of ear-catching releases. Tracks like “Oxford Boy,” “Silk or Corduroy,” “Ultimate Cheerleader,” and “Millennial Cliché” showcase her consistent creative output.

Alina’s music has always drawn inspiration from life’s everyday moments, transforming personal experiences into sharp storytelling. ‘Loverboy Leave’ continues that tradition with a witty and relatable concept inspired by her time with European friends who refused to admit they were dating.

As Alina explains:

As I pulled up to my Swedish friend’s apartment in Amsterdam, I saw a guy leaving, the guy she had been ‘not dating’ for about three months. We caught each other’s eyes familiarly, and I texted her the phrase, ‘I just saw your loverboy leave.’ Then I went home and wrote this song.”

Loverboy Leave stands out for its irresistible production, dreamy beats, and her confident vocal delivery, especially during the electrifying chorus. A fun detail comes during the bridge, where Alina sings “what are you waiting for?” in both Spanish and Swedish, a nod to the nationalities that inspired the story behind the track.

To celebrate the release of Loverboy Leave, Alina will be headlining at The Folklore Rooms in Brighton on October 28th. Make sure to save the date for a night that promises to be unforgettable!

“Loverboy Leave stands out as another shining highlight in Alina’s growing catalogue, lyrically sharp and irresistibly catchy; it’s the kind of track that keeps echoing in your head well after it ends.”

‘Kintsugi’ is an angelic track that further establishes Elly Hopkins and leaves us impatiently anticipating her upcoming EP ‘Animal’.

Elly Hopkins – Kintsugi

Elly Hopkins is a Bristol-based singer-songwriter who always seems to allow herself artistic freedom, subsequently creating music for heartfelt realists and stubborn dreamers alike.

This track explores healing through the lens of imperfection and growing with the understanding of loss and heartache. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, and that’s exactly how one feels when they find Elly and her new track, like they are being pieced together with pure musical gold.

The opening guitar is beautiful and simple; Elly then comes in with insightful lyrics that playfully cut through the sound. The song builds with gorgeous lyrics delivered with grace yet purpose. The repeated delivery of ‘idle hands’ sat with me for a while. Somehow, Elly brought life to this common phrase with unique beauty. The chorus packs a necessary punch and delivers her message with intent. The entire track is littered with fluorescent craftsmanship and individual expression. As an artist, it is clear that Elly draws from her own life and her own love of music, resulting in a melting pot of delightful nuance.

I truly believe ‘Kintsugi’ will be a crowd favourite on release and help catapult Elly on a whirlwind musical journey that she is very deserving of.

‘Kintsugi’ is the third release from the upcoming EP ‘Animal’, with ‘Cecile’ and ‘Animal’ already being released (to deserved praise). ‘Animal’ will be an EP that will no doubt delight all her fans and any lover of art. Elly has two live shows coming up, which are must-see:

Brimming with pop-punk energy and good vibes, UK trio Fountain Island turn up the heat with their latest single Girl You Got Me.

Fountain Island – Girl You Got Me

Formed in 2020 by lead singer Alex Porro, Fountain Island hail from Newbury, UK, and have built a reputation for their infectious blend of pop-punk hooks and high-energy performances. Drawing inspiration from the early 2000s US and UK pop-punk movements, the band’s sound channels the carefree fun of the genre’s golden era, all rooted in their motto, “everyday is a holiday.”

In 2020, Fountain Island began releasing music, gradually shaping their identity within the pop-punk scene. One of their standout moments came in 2023 with Pretty Little Nightmare, which caught the attention of BBC Radio 1 Introducing’s rock DJ Alyx Holcombe. Later that year, their follow-up single Ain’t Got You was named Track of the Week on BSB TV, further cementing their growing presence.

Now, after taking a short creative break in 2024 to refine their next chapter, Fountain Island returns with Girl You Got Me, the first taste of their upcoming EP Motor Hotel. The song captures the rush of falling for someone who doesn’t quite fall back, wrapping that bittersweet emotion in bright, danceable production, an emo anthem in pop disguise.

Don’t be misled by its emo-inspired theme; Girl You Got Me is anything but sombre. The track bursts with contagious energy, driven by bright synth lines and a chorus built to move any crowd. Its upbeat tempo and electrifying production keep the momentum high from start to finish, resulting in a track every bit as addictive and radio-ready as anything in today’s Top 40.

“Girl You Got Me is an irresistibly catchy track that instantly lifts the mood, leaving its melody looping in your head long after the first listen.”

This latest release will feature on Motor Hotel, Fountain Island’s upcoming EP slated for late 2025 or early 2026. The band is also gearing up for a busy live schedule, with UK shows on the horizon, including Reading Rising this November and several festival appearances confirmed for 2026. Stay tuned to their socials for the latest updates and tour announcements.

Fueled by raw emotion and a gritty DIY punk spirit, Southampton trio My Black Poison return with their striking single Freak.

My Black Poison – Freak

Freak is a bold statement of everything that defines their sound: honest, intense, and loaded with energy.

Formed by singer and guitarist Sean Cahalin, bassist James J Poison, and drummer Henry Wilkins, Southampton-based My Black Poison is a rising act delivering a potent mix of heartfelt lyricism and infectious riffs. Their sound sits at an exhilarating crossroads where punk energy meets emo intensity, resulting in music that hits hard and stays with you.

Looking back on their career so far, My Black Poison introduced themselves with their debut EP Take a Sip in 2022, offering listeners a clear glimpse of their musical identity. They built on that foundation with their sophomore EP Toxic Traits, taking their sound to the next level and showcasing a bolder, more refined approach.

As a glimpse of what’s to come, My Black Poison have released the single Freak, a track that delivers the same raw, visceral lyricism fans have come to expect, paired with the electrifying intensity that has become a signature of their sound both in the studio and on stage.

Distorted riffs and driving drumming underscore the track’s emotional depth, creating an atmosphere of raw desperation and longing. The interplay between melodic singing and intense, emo-infused screams captures the sense of rejection perfectly, culminating in a powerful and memorable guitar solo.

“Freak delivers everything an emo track should: edgy, high-energy, and emotionally charged, leaving an impact on multiple levels.”

Freak is the first single from My Black Poison’s upcoming debut album. Even though the album is still in the works, the track has already captured the attention of their growing fanbase. Be sure to follow the band on their socials to stay updated on all the latest news.

As they like to say: “My Black Poison are looking for their tribe, and are looking at you.”

Written during one of the most challenging moments in his life, ‘Save Me’ stands as a raw and emotional release from Ethereal phxse.

Ethereal phxse – Save Me

The track merges introspective lyricism with an eclectic mix of alternative influences, showcasing the artist’s ability to channel pain into sound.

Emerging from the UK independent scene, Ethereal phxse continues to carve a distinctive identity by merging elements of alternative rock, cloud rap, ambient, shoegaze, post-punk, and witch house. This fusion forms surreal and often haunting atmospheres, while his lyrics dive into themes of depression, dissociation, anxiety, love, and heartbreak, topics that reflect genuine emotion and vulnerability.

On ‘Save me’, Ethereal phxse explores the suffocating sensation of being trapped within your own thoughts. The song doesn’t erupt in anger but rather opens a quiet space of surrender, a confession that needing help doesn’t make you weak. This vulnerability makes the song one of his most relatable and sincere efforts to date.

With gloomy chords and ethereal textures, ‘Save Me’ carries a sombre yet hypnotic energy. Its grunge-influenced undertones and shoegaze-inspired vocals blend into a dreamlike haze, producing a deeply immersive listening experience. The result feels both raw and atmospheric, a balance that Ethereal phxse handles with remarkable precision.

“Save Me is an edgy and deeply emotional expression of vulnerability, grounded in honest lyricism and supported by production that amplifies its intensity.”

Ultimately, Save Me reaffirms Ethereal phxse’s talent for transforming emotional turmoil into art. It’s a striking representation of how modern shoegaze can intersect with alternative and varied sounds to create something deeply human. As he continues to expand his sonic palette, Ethereal phxse proves himself as one of the most intriguing artists to follow in the underground scene.

Exploring the complexities of relationships and their often unpredictable dynamics, Irish alt-gaze band In Athens have returned with their latest single, Tides.

In Athens – Tides

Hailing from the rugged junction of Galway, Connemara, and the Wild Atlantic, In Athens have become a standout presence in Ireland’s independent music scene. Their sound moves effortlessly between fuzzy post-gaze atmospheres and the raw, unfiltered energy of post-punk, creating evocative soundscapes that capture both the power and serene beauty of their surroundings.

Reflecting on their musical approach, In Athens explains:

There’s nostalgia in what we do, for sure – 90s alternative tones, a bit of shoegaze sprinkled here and there – but it’s not about looking back. We’re interested in contrast. Warmth and detachment. Collapse and control. We like when things feel familiar yet slightly off, in the same way that a vivid, lucid dream can sometimes feel”

Aligned with their theme of contrast, In Athens delivers Tides, a track that captures the ebb and flow of emotional disconnect, vividly portraying relationships that are out of sync, one person reaching out while the other pulls back, a familiar back-and-forth that will strike a chord with anyone who has experienced it.

Guided by infectious, nearly danceable drums, Tides draws you in with a captivating guitar riff and a striking interplay of male and female vocals, all building to a commanding chorus that rises and falls like the very tides the song is named after.

“Like a sweeping wave of sonic intensity, Tides immerses you in the finest elements of post-punk and shoegaze.”

Tides is the second single from In Athens’ upcoming EP, Mirrorism, set for release on October 24th, followed by an Irish tour, showing that the band is set to close 2025 in style. Be sure to follow them on their socials to stay updated!

Emerging from the heart of Derbyshire, Fools & Sages return with their third single, ‘All That Could Have Been’, a powerful reflection on identity, vulnerability, and transformation.

Fools & Sages – All That Could Have Been

Continuing their journey as one of the most exciting new rock acts, the band blends the timeless soul of classic ’70s rock with the grit and emotion of modern alternative sounds, crafting something both nostalgic yet fresh.

Fronted by Connor Botherway-Hill and Grace Leah, Fools & Sages have built a reputation for fusing poetic lyricism, cinematic soundscapes, and raw, emotive energy. On All That Could Have Been, these qualities converge beautifully. Dual vocals intertwine with bold guitar lines, pulsing percussion, and atmospheric production, creating a track that feels both intimate and wonderfully explosive. It’s a song that explores the fragile space between who we are and who we think we should be. This is an emotional dialogue that is sure to deeply resonate with anyone who loves a daydream.

“Fools & Sages breathe fresh new energy into classic rock.”

In keeping with their DIY ethos, Fools & Sages handle every aspect of their artistry from songwriting and production to visuals, fashion, and design, everything we love here at Right Chord Music.

Their approach is more than music; it’s a holistic art project that reflects their creativity across every touchpoint. Grace’s handmade jewellery and bespoke outfits, designed to match each release’s theme, further blur the lines between performance and personal expression.

For All That Could Have Been, this extends to their striking artwork, which plays on the song’s opening line: “We painted the canvas until it was black…” a visual metaphor for losing and rediscovering oneself in the mirror.

Speaking about the track, Grace explains…

It’s written about the conflict between who you are and the person you see staring back at you in the mirror. It’s about honesty, acceptance, and embracing every aspect of identity, even the difficult parts.

That vulnerability sits at the song’s core, grounding its anthemic sound in human truth.

Since their debut single, Bittersweet and its haunting self-directed video, through the expansive Always, Fools & Sages have consistently pushed their creative boundaries. All That Could Have Been marks their boldest evolution yet, heavier, more immersive, yet still deeply emotional.

Following their successful self-promoted headline show and appearance at Sonic Boom, Fools & Sages continue to prove that rock isn’t dead, it’s just getting louder, braver, more honest and even more personalised.

Kati Cooke explores the feelings and frustration of a friendship breakup on her new single Girl’s Girl.

Kati Cooke – Girl’s Girl

Girl’s Girl by Kati Cooke is a super relatable story about the end of a friendship, possibly the worst and most unexpected of all ‘the breakups’.

While breakups are a well-trodden lyrical theme, it’s refreshing for the focus to be on friendship. The concept of a girl’s girl suggests someone who celebrates the success of other women and adheres to the ‘girl code, ‘ so when the line is crossed, it can feel devastating.

Kati Cooke shares her anger, frustration, and regret in this super slick slice of R&B-infused Pop. This is the type of song that would absolutely fizz when played in a late-night car ride around a city.

“Better run for cover, karma’s coming for ya.”

Working alongside her producer, Kati Cooke has captured raw emotion and transformed it into something that is both emotionally vulnerable and empowering. We can all grow from this.

Regardless of whether you want to scream, cry or shout, this could be your late-night soundtrack.

Yorkshire-based Kati Cooke dreams of reaching the level of her pop idols, which include Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae and  Olivia Rodrigo and this new single is another small step in the right direction.

“Kati Cooke has written a relatable pop anthem; get on board with this new female voice.”

Despite only releasing music for a year, Kati has already shared five singles and a live BBC Introducing Set. We recommend you take time to acquaint yourself with this fresh, new female voice and her growing and impressive back catalogue.
